Most Belizeans denounce the Blockade that the USA has imposed against Cuba. We know it is a target of fierce economic war for almost 60 years.
Recently the USA has doubled down on its BLOCKADE with the additional attack of their HELMS-BURTON law which is a LAW first passed in 1996. There is a specific section of the law called Title III, aimed at depriving Cuba of foreign investments, threatening current and potential partners.
On June 14th 2019 at the 6th meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs a clear declaration was adopted stating:
“We denounce the application of the new measures under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, legislation which flagrantly violates International Law and undermines the sovereignty and interests of third parties, announced by the US government which strengthens the US blockade against Cuba, including the application of laws and measures of extra-territorial nature that are contrary to international law.”
The United Nations General Assembly has condemned the blockade for 22 consecutive years.
