Book about Cuba presented at Riyadh International Book Fair

Riyadh, October 7th - Under the title "My trip to Cuba", the book of the Saudi journalist and writer Thamer Sudi Gamgoom was presented in the context of Riyadh International Book Fair, who decided to write the experiences lived during his unforgettable visit to the Island in 2012.

The author invited the Cuban Ambassador, Vladimir Gonzalez, to the “Book Signing” ceremony, which took place in pavilion 3 of the fairgrounds. The Saudi diplomat Saeed Al-Jomae, who was the first Ambassador of his country to Cuba and promoted the Kingdom's participation in the Havana International Book Fair, was also present.

In a volume of 87 pages and 23 chapters, published by the “Al-Raidiyah” Publishing House, Thamer chronologically describes the details of his trip to Cuba, from his arrival to departure.

The text reflects the writer's impressions on the official inauguration of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Havana, the Old Havana tour, the visit to the International Book Fair, the touristic stay in Varadero and the figure of Che Guevara, among other passages.

The Cuban Ambassador, who attended the ceremony accompanied by the Embassy team, thanked Thamer for the gesture of dedicating to Cuba the fourth book of his series on trips to different countries, affirming that this is an effective way of bringing the Island closer to the Kingdom through literature.

The Riyadh International Book Fair is held every year and is a platform for companies, institutions and individuals working and interested in literature, publishing and translation to present their works and services.

In its edition of this year 2022, the event has Tunisia as guest of honor and the participation of around 1,200 publishing houses from 32 countries. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
