V Conference on Strategic Studies
“Conflicting Geopolitics and an international order in transition”
The Center for Research on International Politics (CIPI) calls for papers for the V Conference on Strategic Studies ‘Conflicting Geopolitics and an international order in transition’ to be held from October 23rd to 25th 2019 at CIPI, located at Avenida 3ra, entre 18 y 20, Miramar, Playa, La Habana, Cuba.
The main goal of the conference is to analyze and exchange ideas on the following topics:
- The crisis of capitalism and its expressions. Geopolitical and geo-economic changes in the global order. Geostrategic convergence and divergence among the centers of world power.
- Influence of global powers on the regional and global balances of power. Middle powers and new actors in the international arena: readjustment to globalization and reactions to the crisis of multilateralism and International Law.
- United States of America (U.S.) and its new attempts to establish hegemony and global leadership based on the Monroe Doctrine. Imperial geostrategy, geopolitics and geo-economy. U.S. Foreign and Security Policy and possibilities for its implementation at regional, sub-regional and national level.
- Political Changes in Our America: U.S. strategy to reaffirm its control over Latin America. Realities and perspectives of leftist and progressive forces to face the advance of oligarchies, the political right and the international extreme right in the region.
- Rethinking South-South integration. Readjustment of integrational and associative initiatives in face of political changes in Latin America.
- Communicational scenarios for a world in conflict: challenges and opportunities.
Potential participants shall submit the registration form given below and a paper summary up to 250 words by October the 9th 2019 via email. The Organizing Committee will review the proposals and require the accepted participants to submit the full paper by October 23rd 2019. Participants are also expected to deliver a presentation, which must not exceed 15 minutes’ duration, regardless of the extent of the submitted paper.
International participants will also be required to pay an individual registration fee of 150.00 CUC. on October 23rd 2019, first day of the event. International undergraduate students can pay a reduced registration fee of 80.00 CUC, provided they present the relevant documentation.
