The campaign for the release of the Five Cuban Heroes was remembered in Australia

Canberra, 14 September 2020.- The Australia-Cuba Friendship Association (ACFS), joined the call launched by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) on 12 September  to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the unjust imprisonment of the Five Cuban Heroes by the government of the United States. From there, “The Five” prevented the materialisation of terrorist actions against Cuba.

Friends of the ACFS shared some materials about the most important moments of the campaign for the release of the Cuban Five in Australia. Through a virtual photographic exhibition,  the ACFS, showed their activism with the organisation of street rallies,  exhibitions and visits by relatives, such as the one carried out by Ailin Labañino, daughter of Ramón Labañino, in August 2014. In Western Australia, a small plaque in honour to the Cuban patriots can still be seen today, and it was built by the will of the friends of Cuba residing in the above mentioned city.
