CELAC coordinators prepare documents for 5th Summit

National coordinators of the member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) are currently analyzing the documents to be presented to leaders during the 5th CELAC Summit.

On January 21, representatives began debates on a political declaration, several special declarations and a plan of action.

According to the organizers, among the topics to be discussed at the Summit is the need to end the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, rejected by the 33 member nations of the bloc.

According to the Dominican Foreign Ministry, everything is set for the 5th Summit of this mechanism for dialogue and cooperation, which will be held January 24 - 25.

Following the meeting of coordinators, the meeting of foreign ministers will commence on Tuesday, January 24, prior to the meeting of regional leaders, during which the Dominican Republic will officially hand over the pro tempore presidency of the body to El Salvador.
