Members of solidarity organizations and friends of Cuba in Ottawa celebrated the 65th Anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 171stAnniversary of the birth of the Apostle José Martí.
During the event, the Cuban Ambassador to Canada, Héctor Igarza, exchanged views with those present on the importance of the celebration for Cuba and the world. He also referred to the dissimilar achievements of the Cuban Revolution, despite the hostile policy of the U.S. toward our people for more than 60 years.
The event was the stage for debate on current issues, as well as to condemn the U.S. blockade against the island and the genocide against the Palestinian people.
As a culmination of the event, José Martí's simple verses were sung by those present to the rhythm of the Guantanamera.
