Celebration in Toronto the 66 anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks

Toronto,  July 26th, 2019.- On Friday night, July 26, it was celebrated the 66th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes military Headquarters. The celebration was jointly organized by the Cuban-Canadian Friendship Association, the Latin American Solidarity Network (LACSN), the Association of Cuban Residents in Canada, Juan Gualberto Gómez, and the Consulate General of Cuba.

During the event, it was highlighted the importance of this action due to the extraordinary significance it had for the Cuban people and for the national liberation movement that lasted until the defeat of tyranny in 1959. Likewise, it was also highlighted the influence of this epic on the Latin American social and revolutionary movements.

Consul Yoslaidy Clemente López stated that, under Fidel's leadership, Raúl and more recently President Diaz Canel, Cuba has done nothing but assert himself as an advocate of self-sovereignty, freedom and self-determination of itself and of all nations as a fair right. The heroic actions of July 26th, 1953 was vital the Cuban people which years later took, once and for all, the reins of its destiny.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the continued solidarity, friendship and support of the solidarity organizations that in Toronto defend the righteous causes of the Cuban people, at a time when the powerful American neighbor makes more aggressive its policy of blockade against Cuba.
