Port of Spain, May 2, 2024. The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Gustavo Veliz Olivares, presented his Credentials to the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Carla Kangaloo, who welcomed him to the country.
During the dialogue, they highlighted the beginning of bilateral relations between both countries, classified as historic, since Trinidad and Tobago was one of the first Caribbean countries to establish ties with Cuba. The exchange was characterized by affection and formality.
The Cuban Ambassador highlighted the presence of Trinidadian women in the country's public services, an experience that turns out to be an example for the region. The President thanked her for her appreciation and wished her success in her new mission.
The President was accompanied by the Protocol directors of the Presidency's office, as well as the Foreign Ministry. On the Cuban side, Gilda López Mestre, Minister Counselor, and Leydis Bernal Suárez, Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, were present.
