Cuba and Australia held meeting between their foreing ministrys

AUSTRALIA, October 15, 2018.- With the presence of Cuban 1st Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Marcelino Medina González, and the Vice Minister for Europe and Latin America at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Christopher Langman, the meeting between the foreign offices of Australia and Cuba took place this Monday morning.

During the meeting held in the occasion of the 1st Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs visit to Australia, both sides stated their satisfaction for the progress made in terms of bilateral relations and ratified the interest to promote the political dialogue and expand relations in areas of common interests. The representatives of both foreign ministries expressed their interest to promote the development of economic and trade relations. In this respect the Cuban side conveyed the interest of fostering exchanges and cooperation with Australia in sectors where Australia has achieved experience and outstanding success, such as energy and mining.

The context of this meeting was also favourable for addressing triangular projects carried out by both nations for the benefit of the Pacific Islands. The senior representatives also exchanged views on topics of the international agenda. 

As part of his visit to the austral country, the Cuban diplomat expects to hold meetings with Australian Parliament members, political leaders and other personalities of this nation. (Cubaminrex)
