Cuba and British Columbia Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Victoria, Mayo 3, 2019.- Cuban Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Josefina Vidal, is paying her first offiicial visit to Canadian province of British Columbia from May 2-7, 2019.

During her visit, the Cuban diplomat will carry out an extensive program in the cities of Victoria and Vancouver, which  includes meetings with government officials, businessmen, scholars, members of solidarity with Cuba groups and Cuban residents in that province.

Ambassador Vidal is expected to be received by the Hon. Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia; the Hon. Darryl Plecas, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of B.C.; and B.C.' s cabinet ministers the Hon. Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology and the Hon. Lisa Beare, Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture.

Meetings with the Canada-Cuba Business Association and Ekistics Inc., which has recently started doing business with Cuba, are included in the programme. Ambassador Vidal is also expected to meet with members of CCFA Vancouver, Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba, Friends of Cuba Against the U.S. Blockade (FCAB-Vancouver) and Victoria Friends of Cuba.

The program also features Ambassador Vidal's lectures at the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia on Cuba' s current situation, the US blockade against the island and Cuba-Canada relations.

The Cuban delegation is made up by Minister Counsellor, José Anselmo López.
