Ottawa, November 27, 2019.- A sectoral delegation of industry and energy, headed by Mr. Yuri Viamontes, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines of Cuba, visits Canada between November 25 and 29, 2019. The delegation carries out an intensive work program in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
The Cuban delegation held meetings with several local companies interested in developing joint ventures, high-level officials from the Ministries of Economy, Science and Innovation and International Relations, Quebec Investment and the provincial government, in the interest of expanding and consolidating Québec trade and investment in Cuba.
This mission is carried out with the support of the governments of Canada and Quebec, and the Canada- Cuba Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its main objective is to promote business opportunities that generate production chains and the increase of exports in different branches of the industry, including energy, oil and iron, steel and metalworking.
The delegation includes directors and officials from the Ministry of Industries (MINDUS), the Iron, Steel and Metalworking Business Group, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba.
The Cuban Ambassador in Canada, Mrs. Josefina Vidal, the Economic-Commercial Counselor, Ms. Cristina Ramos and the Consul General in Montreal, Mrs. Mara Bilbao, participate in the program of activities of the delegation.
