Cuba and Iran ready to continue strengthening parliamentary ties

The Cuban Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada was welcomed by the new president of the Iran-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Reza Mansouri, whom he praised on his appointment to the post. Gonzalez also delivered letters of congratulations from the president of the International Relations Committee at the National Assembly of People’s Power, Yolanda Ferrer Gomez, and the president of the corresponding Cuba-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, Pedro Victor Simon Rodriguez.

The diplomat also asked Mansouri to convey thankfulness to the President of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Ali Larijani, for the message of condolences sent to his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, following the recent death of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. In this regard, he gave him a copy of the letter of appreciation sent by the head of the Cuban legislative power.

The Ambassador and MP Mansouri agreed that the state of bilateral relations between Cuba and the Persian nation is excellent, and they reviewed the most recent and relevant developments within their framework, with emphasis on exchanges and collaboration at parliamentary level. They also reaffirmed that Cuba and Iran are ready to continue strengthening their ties in the legislative area.

The new Iran-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, composed of 15 members and headed by Mansouri, was formed after the most recent parliamentary elections last February.
