Riyadh, October 27th - The Ambassador of Cuba, Vladimir Gonzalez, was received by the new Head of the Human Rights Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Hala Bint Mazyad Bin Mohammed Al-Tawaijri. The meeting was also attended by the institution's vice president, Prof. Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Khial, and the head of International Affairs, Mrs. Sarah Bint Abdulaziz Al-Faisal.
The Ambassador congratulated Dr. Al-Tawaijri for her important appointment, pointing out that this is an example of the remarkable changes that are taking place in the Kingdom during the last period, through which it is intended to give women a leading role in Saudi society, assuming also governmental responsibilities.
Through the meeting, the possibility of expanding cooperation between Cuba and Saudi Arabia in the human rights field was analyzed, based on the close collaboration and coordination that already exists between the Island and the Kingdom in international organizations and forums, even in the context of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Human Rights Commission is a Saudi government organization established on September 12th, 2005 by decision of the Council of Ministers and has as its objective the protection and promotion of human rights in accordance with international standards. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
