Riyadh, May 24th - A delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, chaired by the Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Saud bin Mohammed Al-Sati, arrived in Havana to participate in the fifth round of inter-foreign ministry political consultations. The previous session took place in the Saudi capital in October 2014.
As the first activity on his agenda, Undersecretary Al-Sati held a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, during which the will to continue strengthening political-diplomatic relations and expanding economic, commercial ties and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Cuba was ratified.
Afterwards, the Saudi delegation began the round of political consultations with its Cuban counterpart, headed by the vice minister of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo, and also made up of the director of North Africa and the Middle East, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, and the director of Trade Policy for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Sergio Espinosa More.
On the Saudi side, in addition to the Undersecretary, the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Havana, Mr. Faisal bin Falah Al-Harbi; the adviser in the Office of the Undersecretary, Mr. Abdulaziz bin Eidhah Al-Jumaid; and the Deputy Director of the Department of Latin America and the Caribbean, Mr. Khaled bin Mohammed Al-Rais, were also present.
The consultation session concluded successfully, with both parties addressing all the issues of interest and exchanging on the positive bilateral ties and their strengthening in the economic and commercial field. The vice minister congratulated his counterpart for the results at the recent Summit of the Arab League and thanked him for Saudi Arabia's support for the Cuban presidency of the G77 plus China.
Subsequently, the Saudi delegation went to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment headquarters, where they met the first deputy minister, Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga. Both parties addressed the state of economic and commercial ties, as well as the bilateral projects carried out and those currently running.
The visitors' program concluded with an interview with the rector of the Higher Institute of International Relations, Rogelio Sierra Díaz, where the alternatives of cooperation between Arabic teaching centers in the Kingdom and the Cuban educational institution were examined.
