Cuba attended the 11th National Conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).

The International Session of the 11th National Conference of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), held on May 14 in the city of Calcutta, was inaugurated with the reading of the draft resolution in solidarity with Cuba and condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on the Cuban people.

The Second of Mission, Abel Aballe Despaigne, present at the event, read the message of greetings from the Young Communist Union (UJC) to the Conference; at the same time he ratified the will of the Cuban youth to continue the legacy of Che and the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, in the struggle for the defense of the causes together, against imperialism and media hegemonism; as well as the willingness to continue working for the strengthening of friendly relations between the peoples of India and Cuba, particularly among their youth.

A heartfelt moment was the tribute paid by all present to the victims of the Saratoga Hotel accident, a sign of the friendship and solidarity that unite both nations.

As part of his program in Calcutta, the Cuban diplomat exchanged with students of the Presidency University in which they discussed issues related to the current situation in Cuba, the challenges of students today and the various actions to be developed to increase the exchange with Cuban university students.

The official also held meetings with the top management of the DYFI, the Student Federation of India (SFI) and the Friends of Latin America (FOLA).
