The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) today called on people of good will in the world to join the next Day for Peace, against the Blockade and Terrorism.
The initiative will run from September 4 until the vote at the United Nations General Assembly this year on the draft resolution on the need to end the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
At a time when the defense of peace is urgent, in the face of what seems to be a propitious scenario for a new world conflagration, this day is an opportunity to unite around the fundamental principles that govern our humanity: justice, equity and mutual respect, said the call.
As an unpostponable motivation, the day will demand the immediate cessation of the genocide committed by the Zionist state of Israel against the people of Palestine, with the complicity of its partners in the West.
Also the urgent need to put an end to the U.S. blockade against Cuba, which for more than six decades has caused incalculable suffering to the people, suffocates the possibilities of development of the country, and limits the free enjoyment of human rights.
It will also demand that this Caribbean island be removed from the U.S. State Department's list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, which, ICAP pointed out, is a vile lie that seeks to discredit the prestige of the Revolution.
In this sense, he urged solidarity, unity, and to carry out awareness actions in physical and virtual spaces, demonstrations, forum debates, cultural activities, and other initiatives.
Every action counts, every voice is important. Together we can contribute to build a more just world, where respect for human rights and the dignity of all peoples prevails, the text pointed out.
