Havana, 10 September 2022. The Havana-based Oswaldo Guayasamin House Museum is organizing a cultural event to mark the seventh anniversary of the approval of the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

The event will take place from September 19 to 23 at the building dedicated to the Ecuadorian painter and, according to the Office of the City Historian, it will promote equality and respect among people.

Likewise, the initiative is aimed at raising local people’s awareness to take action in order to protect the environment and use the available resources in a responsible way to achieve equitable development.

With this in mind, the creative team will visit some schools together with specialists from the Higher Institute of Applied Technologies and Sciences and will inaugurate an exhibition of drawings made by the students.

The SDGs make up the so-called 2030 Agenda and they were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by that year.

The list of Global Goals, as they are also known, includes ending poverty and hunger, as well as achieving health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, and sustainable cities and communities, among others.
