Considered as the second home of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, due to his regular visits, the Havana Convention Palace (PCH) reached its 45th anniversary today.
The renowned venue, host of events of planetary scope, was inaugurated on this day in 1979, with the celebration here of the VI Summit Conference of Heads of State of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
On the occasion, the Cuban president assumed the presidency of the multi-regional bloc, in a complex stage of global politics that raised his leadership, and that of the Caribbean island, in matters of interest to the international community.
According to the founders of the collective, which currently employs more than 3,500 workers, the opening of the PCH repaid the energies devoted to that project by the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution and the outstanding revolutionary Celia Sanchez, who supervised every object of the construction work.
The institution of major events in Cuba recalls on this day appointments of great global impact as the Summit of the Group of 77 and China, in 2023, as well as high-level meetings of Celac (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States), and various international congresses and conferences.
Also part of its historical memory is the celebration of almost all the congresses of the Communist Party of Cuba, and the sessions of the National Assembly of the People's Power of the island (Parliament), as well as a wide variety of events of foreign organizations and the country.
According to the first vice-president of the Palco Business Group, Jorge Luis Pérez, the PCH is part of a system that provides services for the organization of events, technical, construction, specialized, real estate, shopping mall offers, lodging and employment, among others.
The facility, located a few meters from the capital's popular Quinta Avenida, occupies an area of 60,000 square meters and has 12 air-conditioned rooms of different formats, multi-purpose rooms and offices.
The venue, according to the executive, has the specialized personnel and technical means to offer simultaneous and bilateral interpretation services, recordings, audio, national and international communications, Internet connection for rooms and offices, signage and decorations in conference rooms, among others.
It also has spaces for the assembly of exhibitions associated with the events held there, which makes this institution the Cuban leader, specialized in events and congresses, according to its managers.
The aforementioned group also has a four-star hotel annex -the Palco Hotel- with easy access to the José Martí International Airport, which facilitates the successful holding of important world meetings in Havana.
The convention center's executives also highlight its gastronomic services, which include a main bar, five snack bars, a self-service cafeteria and the El Bucán restaurant, with a capacity for 800 people seated and 1,000 standing.
As a complement, the entity favors access to medical and dental services, banking, customs, transportation, restaurants, stores, printing and recreation at Club Habana.
