Riyadh, December 29th - Based on the cultural agreement in force between the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of Yemen, Cuban authorities decided to grant eight scholarships to Yemeni students to begin their medical studies on the Island, at the school year 2021-2022.
The scholarships were handled with the Department of Collaboration that Cuba Offers at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX), through the agile coordination between the Embassy of Cuba in Saudi Arabia -with concurrence in Yemen- and his Yemeni counterpart.
Putting the principle of internationalism into practice, in the 70’s of last century Cuba massified a Scholarship Plan for foreign students at the request of African countries and some from the Middle East, to prepare their future professionals.
In this sense, the decision to create a Special Secondary School by countries on the Youth’s Island was taken, among then it was the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, today integrated into the Republic of Yemen. Many young Yemenis who studied at that secondary school later became professionals of different specialties.
Following this tradition, Cuban authorities now grant eight new scholarships to Yemeni students in order to study medicine, who must arrive to Havana before the end of January 2022 to join the corresponding school year. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
