Cuba invites you to the 39th edition of the "Jazz Plaza" Music Festival.

Cuba's biggest jazz event will reach its 39th edition in the coming days, as from January 21 to 28 the cities of Havana and Santiago de Cuba will host on their stages the virtuosity of national and foreign musicians that make each meeting of the Jazz Plaza International Festival unique.

On this occasion, the opening concert to be held on January 21 will be dedicated to the 50 years of artistic life of maestro Joaquín Betancourt, according to the event's Facebook page.

A special fact marks the visuality of the event, scheduled for the Martí Theater of the Cuban capital, the opening gala "Amada música" will also recognize the work for 15 years of the Jazz Band, a project that since its foundation has been directed by Betancourt, National Music Award 2019.

The event will feature guests from countries such as the United States, Canada and Holland, which is a motivation to bet on the genre from the largest of the Antilles. This edition will also include a theoretical event where heterogeneous audiences can participate.

From January 22 to 27, the academic event will bring together not only jazz professionals and the music industry in general, but will also be an opportunity for young students from Cuban art schools to participate.

The Festival's main venues in Havana will be the Avellaneda and Covarrubias halls of the National Theater of Cuba, the Marti, America and Karl Marx theaters, the Cuba Pavilion, the Cuban Art Factory, the Tito Junco Hall of the Bertolt Brecht Cultural Center and the Casa de la Cultura de Plaza.

In Santiago de Cuba, performances will be held at the Heredia Theater, the Iris Jazz Club, the Jutía Conga patio of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Macubá Café Theater and Plaza Dolores.

Artists of the stature of Nachito Herrera, Ted Nash, the Cubadentro project, Janio Abreu and the Mal Paso company will add prestige to the catalog of the event that will be held on Cuban soil during the first month of the year 2024.

A special performance by pianist Roberto Fonseca, who will perform for the first time with the National Ballet of Cuba, under the direction of Viengsay Valdés, has been reserved for the closing of the 39th edition. The show, in addition to closing the event, will pay tribute to the 75th anniversary of this institution that constitutes Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
