Cuba-Michigan Day celebrated in Washington D.C.

On June 6, in the Embassy of Cuba in the United States, an event took place on the occasion of the celebration of the Cuba-Michigan Day, which was attended by personalities of different sectors of that State, including representatives of the federal and state Congress and other local authorities, leaders and members of important companies of the business sector, agricultural organizations and academic institutions of Michigan, among others.
 
The celebration of the Cuba-Michigan Day is part of a number of actions carried out at a State level to support the advancement of the process to normalize the relations between Cuba and the United States, which include but are not limited to meetings held with the Michigan congressional delegation and a visit by the Cuban Ambassador to this State on March 20-22, 2017. 
 
In his remarks to those who attended this event, the Ambassador of Cuba in the United States, José Ramón Cabañas, thanked Michigan’s support to the process of normalization of relations with Cuba and highlighted the many existing prospects to increase the ties with this State in areas such as the agriculture, trade, the academic field, the research and scientific development, among others.
 
Other personalities also made remarks as part of the event, like James Byrum, President of Michigan Agri-Business Association, the attorney Mark Teicher and the Cuban American Felix Sharpe, who also advocated for the strengthening of the bonds between Michigan and Cuba.
