Cuba participates in the Assembly of the International Alliance of Women in Montreal.

In the city of Montreal took place the Assembly of the International Alliance of Women, an organization created in 2010 with the aim of joining efforts to fight for women's rights, through the creation of alliances and anti-imperialist networks worldwide.

With the slogan “Many Struggles, One Battle”, representative figures of the international struggles for the vindication of the role of women gathered at the event.

The meeting was attended by the Consul General of Cuba in Montreal, Susana Malmierca Benítez, representing Cuban women. In her speech, she highlighted the achievements of Cuban women and their active participation in all spheres of society. She also referred to the legal framework that reflects the rights of women in Cuba and the programs aimed at their continued evolution.

The space contributed to condemn the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the government of the United States on Cuba, as the main obstacle to the full development of women and the people of Cuba.
