London, November 9, Cuba's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ismara Vargas Walter, participated in an emotional celebration of the anniversary of the Great October Revolution organized by the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB-ML). This event commemorated one of the most important moments in the history of socialist and communist movements worldwide, whose influence has been transcendental for humanity and for the development of liberation struggles in Latin America, including the Cuban Revolution.
In her speech, the Ambassador highlighted how the ideals of social justice and the struggle for a world of equality and solidarity inspired by the October Revolution are echoed in the Cuban socialist project. She recalled that despite the current challenges and the economic blockade that still affects Cuba, the Cuban people remain committed to building a society based on dignity, equality and cooperation.
The evening featured outstanding speeches, including that of Joti Brar, Vice-President of the CPGB-ML, who highlighted the impact of the October Revolution in the international struggle against oppression and imperialism and recalled the importance of joining forces against the powers that seek to dominate and exploit the peoples of the world. For his part, Zhao Fei, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, highlighted the historic achievements of the global communist movement and reaffirmed China's commitment to the values of cooperation and internationalism, which, inspired by the 1917 Revolution, remain relevant to today's struggles.
Josef Skála, a leftist activist and thinker from the Czech Republic, also addressed the audience, acknowledging the relevance of the October Revolution as a turning point in world history and its lasting influence on socialist movements and national liberation struggles of oppressed peoples.
The event not only paid tribute to the revolutionary past, but also reaffirmed the strength of international ties between Cuba and those in the United Kingdom and around the world who support the struggle for social justice and self-determination of peoples. The Ambassador reiterated that despite the current challenges, Cuba continues to defend its right to build its own model of development and to remain an example of resistance.
Cuba's participation in this event strengthens ties with those who share the vision of a just and multipolar world based on cooperation and solidarity. Tonight, the ideals of internationalism and revolutionary commitment were reaffirmed in honor of those who fought for justice and in support of future generations who will continue this struggle.
