Vienna, September 20, 2021. Cuba today received the Remarkable Achievement award, granted by the International Atomic Energy Agency and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, for the excellent use of plant breeding and biotechnology techniques in the food production. The award ceremony took place within the framework of the 65th IAEA General Conference.
The delegate of Cuba, in her speech of thanks, recognized the work carried out by the scientists and workers of the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences of Cuba, leader in the execution of genetic improvement programs through irradiation techniques and biotechnology and deserving of the aforementioned distinction.
"This constitutes a sample of the high level of professionalism of Cuban scientists and of our country's strong commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear energy," added the representative of Cuba.
