Cuba strengthens its ties with ECOWAS.

Nigeria, September 13, 2022.- The Cuban ambassador to this country and to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Clara M. Pulido Escandell, paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission.

The moment was propitious to address issues of common interest, they also discussed regional and international news. The exchange took place in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the relations between Cuba and this regional organization.

Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, of Gambian nationality, took office as the new President of the ECOWAS Commission for a period of four years, in July 2022, replacing Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, of Ivorian nationality, at the head of the Commission from 2018 to date.

The appointments were made at the 61st Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Accra on July 3, 2022. They will serve for a four-year term.
