Nigeria, January 16th, 2023.- The Cuban ambassador in this country, Clara M. Pulido Escandell, was received by Ambassador Samson Itegboye, director of International Organizations of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, conveyed to the Nigerian executive the gratitude for Nigeria's support for the Cuban resolution against the blockade.
The blockade is opposed by the international community. Thus, the United Nations has approved several times the resolution presented by Cuba urging the United States to lift this genocidal policy. Nigeria, together with the bloc of sister African countries, has always supported the Cuban people and advocated for the end of this unparalleled aggression in the history of International Relations.
In the year 2022, 185 nations voted against the blockade and in favor of the Cuban resolution to end this economic war against its people, while two countries opposed it and two abstained.
In a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the good relations between the two countries, the two diplomats discussed issues of common interest on relations between the two countries, regional and international topic.
On the Nigerian side also participated, Senior Counsellor, Nick Uhomoibhi, from the multilateral directorate of the Nigerian Foreign Ministry, while on the Cuban side, counselor Pavel Bauzá Fusté accompanied the ambassador.
