Cuba thanks Saudi Arabia for its support in the fight against the blockade

Cuban Ambassador stands next to Saudi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political and Economic Affairs

Riyadh, November 17th - The Ambassador of Cuba to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Vladimir Gonzalez, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political and Economic Affairs, Eid Mohammed Althakafi, with whom he reviewed several related issues with the good state of bilateral relations.

The Cuban diplomat and his host agreed on the excellent cooperation that exists between Cuba and Saudi Arabia in international organizations and forums, particularly regarding the exchange of support for the respective candidates and the coordination of positions on the different multilateral issues.

The Ambassador thanked the Kingdom for its usual support for the draft resolution that Cuba presents each year to the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), to demand the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed for more than six decades by the United States government against the Island. He also thanked the Saudi authorities for their response to the UN Secretary General's note on the blockade.

On his side, Deputy Minister Althakafi stated that his country is always in the best disposition to receive the proposals of the Cuban counterpart in the multilateral sphere. (EmbaCuba Arabia Saudita)
