Cuba was present at the Vienna Latin Film Festival

Vienna, April 19. On the occasion of the Vienna Latin Film Festival, the Cuban Embassy in Austria participated in the cultural activity that promoted the work of the Buena Vista Social Club Diva, Omara Portuondo.

The activity, which took place at the Cine Theater Film Casino, preceded the screening of a feature film dedicated to her life and served as an opportunity to promote knowledge of Cuban culture, present Cuba as a tourist destination and foster ties with the community of Cubans living in Austria.

The attendees exchanged on the musical career of the great Cuban Diva baptized in the international music scene as La Novia del feeling, winner of the National Music Award in 2006 and recipient of multiple awards, including several Latin Grammys and the honorary degree of Doctor Honoris Causa in Arts from the University of the Arts of Cuba.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Cuban Ambassador to Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, highlighted transcendental aspects of the life and work of Omara Portuondo, whom he described as a symbol of the Cuban woman, distinguished and admired for her exceptional vocal qualities and her seal of originality.

In addition, the Cuban diplomat invited the attendees to listen to Omara's sublime voice, to visit Cuba as a unique tourist destination in the Caribbean, and thus be able to see and hear the versatility and musicality of Cuban artists.

The Latin Film Festival took place from April 11 to 18, 2024. Over the years, the festival has established itself as a popular event in Vienna for anyone interested in Latin America.
