Cuba will always be able to count on Saint Kitts and Nevis
Basseterre, March 13, 2024.- As every year, the annual meeting took place with representatives of the associations that bring together solidarity with Cuba in Saint Kitts and Nevis, in which the affection, admiration and commitment to the Republic of Cuba was manifested by each of those present.
The main topics of greatest relevance for the period were reviewed and some of the initiatives that are already being worked on were presented.
Telca Wallace, representing the St Kitts and Nevis-Cuba Friendship Association, expressed her willingness and interest in what can be done to help the sister country, which today more than ever needs it. She said that despite the serious difficulties it faces, Cuba continues to contribute to the well-being of many peoples.
"It is no secret to anyone that the root of all the problems that Cuba presents today are direct effects of the United States blockade, which has done so much damage to Cuban families and to many young people, who, like my daughter, are studying there today,” said Mr. Thompson, an active member of the Friendship Association.
The Cuban Alumni Association, according to Micheline Phillips, is organizing a shipment of food and basic necessities, to be donated to Cuban health institutions. They intent to share this initiative with the rest of the Caribbean associations, so that they unite in such a noble effort.
Dr. Ladislao Taquechel, who chairs the organization that groups the Cuban community residing here, expressed his invariable position of support for his homeland.
The occasion was conducive to report on the possible visit to St Kitts, during the month of May, of a delegation from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples, (ICAP) with the aim of exchanging and strengthening links with the organizations here.
Ambassador David Rivero thanked all the work of fellowship and support that these associations of friends of Cuba permanently do. He also offered an update on the country's situation, the state of bilateral links with St. Kitts and Nevis and reaffirmed his government's commitment to continue collaborating with this sister nation
