Vienna, January 10, 2025- Cuba will host the Global Youth Summit (GYS-25), an event organized by the International the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of Cuba, which will be held in Varadero from March 11 to 13, 2025.
The fundamental purpose of the Summit is to create a space for young people to exchange and generate concrete proposals on how to define the future in the context of the digital era.
Under the slogan “Amplifying Youth Voices in ICT for a Connected Future”, the Summit will include as part of the connected future”, the Summit will include as part of its program program will include exchanges and panels for young people to be part of the dialogues and decision-making processes on ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies).
Launching the call, Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) said “I am confident that this event will provide a unique global platform for young people to share their ideas and perspectives towards shaping a more inclusive and connected digital future for young people around the world”.
GYC-25 will be held in a face-to-face format and will host ITU members, Generation Connect Youth Envoys (GCYE) and invited youth from the United Nations and other related organizations, including the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In addition, it is planned to invite youth to a Youth Celebration Day, to be held just prior to WTDC-25, which will provide ITU Member States with the opportunity to include youth in their delegations so that they can familiarize themselves with the statutory conferences and related proceedings
