Cuban Ambassador attends exhibition of Iraqi students in Iran

At the invitation of the Embassy of Iraq and the Association of Iraqi Students at the University of Tehran, the Cuban Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada attended the photographic exhibition "A Vision of Iraq, 100 years of history, culture and struggle”, which was inaugurated at the Faculty of Fine Arts of this high studies center.

The ceremony was chaired by Iranian ministerial and university officials; the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Palestinian State, Salah Zawawi; and the Iraqi Ambassador, Rageh Al-Musawi, with the assistance of Iraqi students and other diplomats.

The Head of the Iraqi Mission thanked in his speech the presence in the inauguration of representatives of friendly nations and highlighted the close ties of friendship that unite our different stories, which at the end shape the history of humanity, despite having faced bloody periods of struggle and resistance to global hegemonic forces. He also condemned the sanctions imposed by the United States to countries like Iraq and Iran, and made mention of the unjust blockade still in force against Cuba.

Afterward the assistants made a tour by the photographic exhibition, where they could appreciate the different historical periods of Iraq, beginning in 1914 with the defeat of the Ottoman Empire and emphasizing in last century. The Cuban Ambassador recognized the millennial heritage values that distinguish the Mesopotamian nation and thanked the opportunity offered by its diplomats and students based in Iran.

The diplomatic representative of Cuba presented his credentials as non-resident Ambassador to the Iraqi authorities in March 16th, 2015.
