Cuban Ambassador exchanges with Australian Minister of Indigenous Affairs

Canberra, September 18, 2019- The Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, was received at the headquarters of the Federal Parliament in Canberra by the Minister of Indigenous Affairs, Ken Wyatt, with whom he exchanged matters of bilateral interest.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat presented the results achieved to date in the literacy campaign with the Cuban method "Yes, I Can" in Australian aboriginal communities, which has been implemented since 2012 by the Literacy for Life Foundation along with the  advice of Cuban specialists.  Likewise, he reiterated Cuba's solidarity commitment to this program and advocated working together in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation in this sector.

For his part, Minister Wyatt thanked Cuba for its support in this literacy campaign that will undoubtedly bring great benefit to Australian Aboriginal communities, while also agreeing on the need to seek ways that will expand exchanges and collaboration between the two countries.  He also considered that Cuba was a world reference in the field of education and health.
