Helsinki, March 28, 2024 - This Thursday morning, Cuban Ambassador, Ms. Beatriz Parra González, held a virtual meeting with the Director of Global Affairs of the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Mr. Vytautas Pinkus, with whom she reviewed the issues on the bilateral political agenda.
During the exchange, the Caribbean representative provided an update on the recent measures affecting Cuba's economy and development, particularly the measures adopted by the new US administration that try to distort the humanitarian work of Cuban medical collaboration around the world. She also highlighted the Secretary of State's pressure on Jamaica and other Caribbean nations he is visiting these days, to cease medical collaboration with Cuba.
At another point, the Ambassador thanked Lithuania for its support in denouncing the US blockade as a member state of the European Union, in the resolution that has demanded an end to this policy at the United Nations, supported by the majority of the international community. She also advocated for the expansion of issues of mutual interest that would allow for the expansion of relations between Cuba and Lithuania.
Before the meeting concluded, the Cuban diplomat thanked HE Mr. Vytautas for the collaboration received during his mission in Finland, which is about to conclude, and appreciated the kind recognition from her Lithuanian colleagues of her contribution to the development of relations between Vilnius and Havana.
