The Cuban ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria presents Credential Letters.

Nigeria, August 24, 2023. H.E. Miriam Morales Palmero, presented in a solemn audience before the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Letters of Credence that accredit her as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in this country.

During the ceremony, which took place in the Presidential Villa, both parties exchanged about the good state of bilateral relations and the willingness to continue promoting ties between the two countries, based on the deep historical and cultural ties that unite them.

The Ambassador of Cuba expressed her pride at having been appointed to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and highlighted the interest in continuing to work to raise the levels of cooperation in both the political, economic and commercial aspects, which bring benefits to both peoples.

During the meeting, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu praised the Cuban Health System for its scientific advances and for facilitating the people's accessibility to such a relevant service, thereby allowing health stability in the region, while highlighting the cultural similarities that both nations share, elements that, he noted, could be exploited much more for the development of tourism and other economic sectors of the two countries. As well as in science and technology, areas that would contribute to the improvement of the lives of both peoples, mainly the youth sector.

Cuba and Nigeria established diplomatic relations on July 1st, 1974. In October of the same year, the Cuban Embassy was opened in Lagos State, then the country's capital, and in 1975, Nigeria opened its Embassy in Havana. Currently, relations between the largest of the Antilles and the African country fundamentally cover education, health, economy, trade, culture and sports.
