Conductors of the program "Power", jointly produced by the Lebanese TV station Al-Mayadeen and the multinational TeleSur, interviewed the Cuban Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada in Tehran. The dialogue focused on the new challenges for Latin America and in particular for Cuba, in the current regional scenario.
In this regard, the diplomat expressed the will of his country, expressed by Army General Raúl Castro during the V Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held last January in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, where he said that we will continue the struggle to build a sovereign, independent, socialist, prosperous and sustainable nation.
Regarding the recent change in US administration, González recalled Havana is ready to continue negotiating pending bilateral issues with Washington based on equality, reciprocity and respect for the sovereignty and independence of our country. In addition, in the case of our region, we must continue to improve the integration mechanisms and comply with the main agreements of CELAC, in particular with regard to the declaration of Latin America as a Zone of Peace. He claimed that this way we would be better prepared for any eventuality.
The interview took place side by side with the celebration in Tehran of the VI International Conference of Support to the Palestine Intifada. The information team of the Lebanese channel Al-Mayadeen is participating in the coverage of the event.
