Namibia, March 14th, 2019- The Chief Justice of Namibia, Hon. Mr. Peter Shivute, received at the headquarters of that institution the Ambassador of Cuba, Sidenio Acosta. In the fraternal meeting, both discussed different issues related to bilateral ties and the international agenda.
The high Namibian magistrate expressed his rejoicing to receive Ambassador Acosta, wished him success in his duties in this African country and reaffirmed his willingness to support him in the performance of his work. For his part, the Cuban Ambassador thanked the warm welcome and expressed his willingness to work to strengthen the excellent relations between the Supreme Courts of both countries.
In this regard, they exchanged on the possibilities of strengthening the legal ties between Cuba and Namibia, as well as cooperation between both judicial systems.
Judge Shivute remembered with pleasure his visits to Cuba and the one made to Namibia by the president of the Supreme People's Court, Rubén Remigio, in 2017, to whom he sent a warm greeting, showing the close friendship that unites them.
Likewise, President Shivute expressed his gratitude to the Cuban people and government for the support to Namibia during the national liberation struggle and after the Independence. In addition, he reiterated his solidarity with Cuba in the struggle for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
