The Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, held a meeting with the Vice-President of the Socialist Party of Cyprus (EDEK), Mrs. Maria Vasiliadou at the premises of the Embassy.
During the meeting they discussed the common challenges faced by the two islands and the future possibilities of cooperation in order to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the bilateral relations between Cuba and Cyprus.
The Ambassador handed over to Mrs. Vasiliadou a petition rejecting the inclusion of Cuba by the United States in the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism and updated on the economic situation in Cuba due to the negative effects of the blockade imposed more than 60 years ago.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador was presented with a photo of Vassos Lyssarides, historical leader of the EDEK Party, who maintained a close relationship with the historical leaders of the Cuban Revolution, as a sign of the ties between the party and Cuba.
Also present at the meeting were Sophia Christodoulou, member of the EU Affairs Office, Andreas Psaras, from the Economics Department, Pampos Christodoulou, from EDEK Youth, and Christos Karipidis, member of EDEK (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
