Dublin, April, 2018. Trade unionist Dess Bonas, who coordinates the "Irish Trade Union Cuba Solidarity Committee" together with Therese Maloney, also union leader of UNITE, paid a visit to the new ambassador of Cuba in Ireland, Hugo René Ramos Milanés.
In the fraternal meeting the Cuban diplomat thanked the solidarity work displayed by the Committee to denounce the serious consequences of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against the Cuban people in the effort to suffocate the Island economy. He also thanked for the active participation in the campaign to achieve its uprising.
It was also recalled the actions deployed by the trade unionists to achieve the release of the Five Cuban anti-terrorist heroes who suffered long and unjust imprisonment in the United States.
Bonass and Maloney welcomed the Cuban ambassador and renewed their commitment to solidarity with the Cuban people and collaboration with the diplomatic mission.
UNITE The Union is one of the main Irish union formations with historical relations with their Cuban counterparts and the Cuban people.
