The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, attended this Wednesday, January 26, the inauguration of an exhibition of art and Batiks -Malaysian traditional fabrics- at the MARA University of Technology (UiTM), located in the city of Shah Alam, capital of the State of Selangor.
This event was chaired by Ahmad Masrizal Muhammad, Deputy Minister of Higher Education of the Asian country, and Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice-Chancellor of the academic institution.
The occasion was propitious for the Ambassador to address with the Vice-Chancellor topics of possible mutual interest between the Malaysian university and Cuban research centers.
In addition, as part of his visit, the Cuban diplomat exchanged with professors and students from the UiTM headquarters, a university that has a total of 34 campuses throughout the country.
The MARA University of Technology signed in 2021 a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Havana (UH) on friendship and cooperation, promotion of mutual understanding, academic, cultural, scientific thinking and the exchange of personnel.
UiTM is the largest public university institution of its kind in the country and one of the most important in the Asian region, with nearly one million graduates since its foundation.
