The Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero held last February 1st a fraternal meeting with Dr. Simos Ioannou, Mayor of Famagusta, at his office in Limassol.
During the friendly meeting, the Ambassador emphasized the historical ties that unite the two countries in their respective struggles and informed the Mayor about the serious consequences of the unjust, unilateral and genocidal blockade imposed by the US Government on Cuba for more than 60 years and which has been intensified after the COVID19 pandemic.
Dr. Ioannou, in turn, informed the Ambassador of the actions of the Mayor's Office and its efforts to keep the community of Famagusta united. He also expressed the willingness for cooperation possibilities with Cuba.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Mayor, Mr. Chrysanthos Zanettou, the Municipal Councillor, Mr. Giorgos Hadjitheodosiou and the Municipal Secretary, Mrs. Marilena Manoli. (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
