Belize City, September 19, 2024.- Ambassador María Caridad Balaguer Labrada participated in the tribute to George Cadle Price, Father of the Nation and Prime Minister of Belize after its independence, on the thirteenth anniversary of his physical disappearance.
Government authorities, students and family members highlighted the role of the distinguished patriot in the process of independence of the English metropolis achieved on September 21, 1981 and his life at the service of the nation.
In April 2005, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz awarded George Price the José Martí Order, in recognition of the extraordinary merits achieved in the emancipatory feat of the brotherly Belizean people, an occasion in which his "humility, modesty and irreducible simplicity in the exercise of public service where he stood out for his attachment to the most humble, his unwavering honesty, the
the high sense of duty and the absolute abandonment of material goods, and his substantial contribution to the legacy of the Caribbean and Latin American leadership."
The ceremony, held annually as part of the National Day of Service, dedicated to honoring Рrісе's legacy, was presided over by Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam, Francis Fonseca, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Henry Charles Usher, Minister of Public Services, Political and Constitutional Reform, and Religious Affairs.
Also present were members of parliament, representatives of the PUP party, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, social and student organizations, relatives of George Price and the people in general, who, with deep love and respect, paid well-deserved tribute to the Father of the Nation.
