The Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, paid a courtesy visit to the Deputy Premier of the state of Sarawak, YB Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat presented to Dr. Sim Kui Hian the portfolio of biopharmaceutical products produced by the Cuban business group BioCubaFarma and outlined the possibilities of future collaborations that will help the mutual benefit of research between both countries.

At the meeting, which took place in Kuching, the state capital, the Vice Premier outlined Sarawak's progress in terms of sustainable development, green energy and available resources, while Florentino Batista González told him about the Cuban experience in similarly important issues.

Among other issues, the discussion also included the presence of Cuban doctors in hard-to-reach communities around the world, the results of previous research carried out by multidisciplinary teams from Cuba and Malaysia, and the current challenges regarding the registration of pharmaceutical products and their mutual recognition.
