Cuban Ambassador presents Letters of Credence in Lesotho

Maseru, November 16, 2023 - The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba appointed to Lesotho, Enrique Orta González, presented this morning before His Majesty King Letsie III, King of Lesotho, in a solemn audience, the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Cuba to this African country.

In his words, the Cuban diplomat expressed his gratitude for Lesotho's traditional support for the Island's just demands before the United Nations for the lifting of the blockade. He also ratified the Caribbean nation's willingness to work in the strengthening of the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

For his part, the Basotho King reiterated his country's support in the fight against the criminal blockade imposed by the US government and sent fraternal greetings to his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.

Relations between Cuba and Lesotho have been permanently strengthened since their formalization in 1979, on the basis of friendship and cooperation. The more than two decades of medical cooperation between Cuba and Lesotho and the granting of annual scholarships for the training of Basotho professionals in areas such as medicine, physical culture and sports, among other specialties, stand out.
