Cuban Ambassador Promotes Cuba's Commitment to Peace and Nuclear Disarmament in the Indonesian Parliament

Indonesia, March 23, 2017. Cuban Ambassador Nirsia Castro Guevara delivered to the President of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Dr. H. Abdul Kharis Almasyhari, a document containing the official position of Cuba in defense of the Peace and nuclear disarmament, and explains the actions the country is taking to eliminate the threat posed by military weapons of this type. Dr. Khairis, for his part, pointed out the coincidence in the positions of the two countries in favor of peace and disarmament. Both partners agreed on the possibility of carrying out activities to promote joint work in this area.

During the working meeting, the Ambassador and Dr. Khairis reviewed the parliamentary exchanges between the two countries and expressed their willingness to promote actions to broaden the links between different sectors of economic and social activity. Commission I, of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR), is responsible for matters related to Defense, Information and Foreign Policy. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Dave Akbarshah Fikarno Laksono, Member of the House.
