Kingston, Jamaica, 23 April , 2022. At noon this Friday, the Ambassador of Cuba Fermín Quiñones Sánchez visited the headquarters of the Jamaican Parliament. He was received by the Honorable Thomas Tavares-Finson and Marissa Dalrymple Philibert, Presidents of the Senate and House of Representatives, respectively.
The Cuban diplomat exchanged in a cordial atmosphere with the leaders of both chambers of the Jamaican Parliament. They thanked Cuba's continued cooperation in sensitive areas such as education and health. They also reaffirmed their willingness to promote in the legislature, as in previous years, a motion condemning the economic, financial and commercial blockade maintained by the US government against the Greater Antilles. The Ambassador acknowledged the historic support of the Jamaican authorities and people for Cuba in its struggle to eliminate this genocidal policy.
During his visit, Ambassador Quiñones had the opportunity to greet and talk with several parliamentarians, both from the ruling Jamaica Labor Party (JLP) and the opposition People's National Party (PNP). He also learned about plans to build a new Parliament building in National Heroes Park in downtown Kingston
