Cuban Ambassador to South Africa participates in virtual seminar saluting the 26 July

Pretoria, July 30, 2023.- The Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Enrique Orta González, participated in a virtual seminar, organized by the Jack Simmons Party School, in salute to the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks.

The event was attended by representatives of the Cuba solidarity movement, members of the Central Committee of the South African Communist Party, and dozens of other South African comrades.

In his remarks, the Ambassador recalled the Cuban history prior to 1953, the year of the assault on the Moncada Barracks, an action that began the last stage of the struggle for Cuban independence. He also referred to the succession of hostile acts carried out against our country by the United States, among them the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Cuban people and more recently, the arbitrary inclusion of Cuba in the List of countries sponsoring terrorism.

The South African comrades reiterated, in their speeches, their unconditional solidarity with Cuba and their firm rejection of the unilateral sanctions imposed against the Cuban people. At the same time, they advocated the strengthening of the ties between our countries.
