Cuban Ambassador visits the headquarters of the Trade Union of the Communications Workers of Trinidad and Tobago (CWU).

Port Spain, February 19 .-The Cuban Ambassador visited the headquarters of the Trade Union of the Communications Workers of Trinidad and Tobago (CWU), were was welcomed by its Chairman, Joely Mohamed and his general secretary, Clyde Elder. Other members of the Board of Directors of CWU and Alex González, first secretary of the Embassy of Cuba, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting the parties reiterated their interest in maintaining the solid and long-standing relations of cooperation between both institutions, a reflection of the excellent bilateral relations between both governments and peoples. Those present also voted to strengthen relations between the respective trade union movements in the communications sector.

The Ambassador of Cuba had the opportunity to congratulate the new union leadership for his election in such an important responsibility, at the same time thanking for the opportunity to hold this meeting as well as the firm position of solidarity with Cuba of the trinitarian union movements, particularly the CWU.

The occasion was propitious for the Cuban diplomat to transfer the Cuban vision on important issues of the regional agenda and updated those present with the main battles of the Cuban workers movement in the struggle to defend the Cuban socialist model in the face of growing adversities, among which he highlighted the intensification of the Blockade against Cuba.

The premises of the CWU  have been the venue for several years the site of several events of solidarity with Cuba on the Caribbean island, and its main leaders have always had a prominent role in the support for these activities.
