Cuban Chargé d'Affaires makes a courtesy visit to the new Ghanaian Ambassador in Liberia.

Monrovia, February 15, 2018- In the afternoon of this Thursday the Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, made a courtesy visit to the new Ambassador of Ghana in that West African nation, Mr. Ernest-Burke Asare-Asiedu. The Second Secretary of the Cuban diplomatic mission, Carmen Maury Toledo, also participated in the fraternal meeting.

"I have strong ties to Cuba and not only to me but also to three of my children who knew, lived and learned to love Cuba." This is how the experienced diplomat expressed himself, who represented his country in the Greater Antilles for four years. He referred to the Caribbean nation with admiration, respect and affection, especially by Commander in Chief Fidel, on whose death he conveyed his condolences and other government officials who with their work have helped to consolidate the historic ties with Ghana. He highlighted the invaluable results of Cuba in areas such as medicine and the training of professionals from other nations, especially Africans. "The world and the media do not talk enough about what Cuba does for other countries and for its own people; that should be known more."

For his part, the Cuban diplomat appreciated the opportunity of this fraternal meeting, which in line with the recent visit to Ghana of the Vice President of the Council of State of Cuba, Mercedes López Acea, constitutes a reaffirmation of Ghana's historic support for Cuba in its struggles for the lifting of the blockade, multilateralism, peace and the strengthening of the bonds of mutual cooperation between Cuba and the African nations.
