Cuban cinema returns to Ottawa.

Ottawa, May 8, 2017. The Cuban film Dark Glasses (Espejuelos Oscuros) was screened in Ottawa on May 5, at the Ottawa Latin American Film Festival.

Espejuelos Oscuros(2015), the first fiction feature by its director Jessica Rodríguez, was presented by its main male character Luis Alberto García, who is already habitual in this spring event. With his simple and direct style and his great sense of humor the recognized Cuban actor achieved an excellent communication with the public, who remained in the room after finalizing the film to dialogue with him.

The Ottawa Latin American Film Festival has been organized for 21 years by the Canadian Film Institute in collaboration with accredited Latin American embassies and features only contemporary Ottawa premieres, gleaned from the screens of such festivals as Cannes, Berlin, Toronto,  Chicago and Havana to celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of that continent. Cuba has participated with at least one fiction feature every year since the start of this festival in 1997.
