CUBAN COLLABORATORS IN DOMINICA MEET WITH DELEGATION OF THE MINREX

Roseau, March 24, 2019. The delegation of the Directorate of Defense, Security and Protection (DDSP) of the MINREX of Cuba that is in Dominica made two meetings with members of the medical brigade and the brigade of builders, on the 23rd and March 24, 2019. The meetings allowed to know the plans that both brigades have to face possible meteorological events in the future.

The meeting with health collaborators was held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, in one of the houses where Cuban doctors reside. It was attended by a representation of the 51 professionals of that sector that make up the brigade. Dr. Isolina López Cardoso, coordinator of the brigade, offered information on the civil defense plans planned to deal with such phenomena. The meeting was attended by several doctors who experienced the intense hurricane Maria that hit Dominica. They narrated their experiences, which demonstrated the importance of the existence of these plans.

In the case of the brigade of builders, the meeting was held on Sunday, March 24, 2019 in one of the two installations in which the 74 members of the brigade reside. The engineer Juan Antuch, head of the brigade, provided an explanation of the measures planned to deal with natural phenomena, which allowed a broad debate on how to refine the plans conceived.

In both meetings participated José Ramón Balaguer, Head of Department of the DDSP of MINREX; Ulises Arranz Fernández, Ambassador of Cuba in Dominica; Tomasa González Prieto, DDSP official and Miriam Martín Posada, Consul of Cuba.
